FURTHER, FOCUSING ON GREAT EFFECTS, A GREAT SCENT, AND A GREAT SELECTION AND OFFERING, WE CREATED SOMETHING UNIQUE FOR EVERYONE AND EVERY DAY. THUS ESTABLISHING A SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO A MEN’S DAILY ROUTINE.

We chose to offer a range providing alternatives to the essentials that most men use every day. The multi-purpose products simplify men’s daily interaction with skincare – i.e. a body wash that is also a shampoo or an after shave that is also a moisturizer.

In creating the best possible products, we firstly collaborated with the vanguard lab and manufacturer for natural skincare in Austria. Secondly and consequently, we chose the optimal ingredients inspired by all the resources Mother Nature has to offer.
Most ingredients are procured from the region surrounding the alpine location of the lab in Tyrol, Austria, and compliment others from far-flung places to arrive at the potency and quality that we seek to obtain.
The pedigree of the ingredients is consistently natural, naturally derived or organic. The water used as the basis to all products is crisp, Tyrolean alpine water, melting straight down from the mountains next to the production facilitiy.
The scent of all products is subtle, elegant and fresh – a result of a uniform selection of essential oils that do not interfere with a cologne but fade away, gently.
Instead of bulk, a commitment to small-batch production yield a reduction in time passing from bottling to delivery, attaining the desired full potential of the products.

The Typeface across the brand is inspired by Italian License Plates from the 50s/60s.
SA.AL&CO’S DESIGN IS TESTAMENT TO OUR SIMPLE BUT UNCOMPROMISING APPROACH. IT TRANSLATES INTO THE PACKAGING MATERIAL AND DESIGN, THE LABEL DESIGN, AND OUR CHOICE OF TYPEFACE. THE AIM IS TO EVOKE A SENSE OF RUGGED AND EFFORTLESS MASCULINE ELEGANCE THAT DEFINES OUR UNDERSTANDING OF AESTHETICS.
Not letting design find itself reduced to a necessary afterthought, but instead putting it in the forefront, it is one of the most important brand attributes. Creating harmony, our design manifests itself in the uniformity of choices ranging from the packaging material and design to the label design and the choice of a single typeface.
In this spirit of the brand’s character, we aimed for simple, rugged surfaces, materials and looks, which achieve an impression of nonchalant, effortless masculine elegance.
In the creative process, we took inspiration from other industry sectors, thus for example using aluminum tubes and bottles commonly seen in the pharmaceutical industry. Small batch gin and premium whiskey labels meanwhile influence the look and layout of the label design.
Inspiration and dedication to detail lead us to the typeface for SA.AL&CO. A communication instrument often neglected, we recognize it as a powerful aspect to equip the brand with a genuine identity. In describing Italian Plate No. 1 by Copenhagen-based design agency “e-Types”, we relay to its creators very own words and intentions:
“Managing the fine art of ‘sprezzatura’, the Italian Plate family is a handsome and stylized typeface family that balances elegance with playfulness. Based on a study of Italian car number plates from the 60’s… (thetypeface) family display a noble and nostalgic look with a modern touch…”
It reflects a dedication to detail and understanding that the total of the particulars are what make a product truly great. Something hardly ever seen in today’s men skincare offering anymore.

The packaging has to live up to the premium standard set by the products, appealing to a higher, masculine aesthetic sense, be functional, highly protective, and age well with use, like men do.
The uncolored, brushed surface conjures an image of industrial chic, decorating a bathroom in a subtle yet significant manner – especially with the indentions from use. The aluminum is completely and indefinitely recyclable and displays excellent barrier properties securing the quality of the ingredients for longer.
All caps and pumps are black, ribbed, and molded from solid, durable plastic allowing easy handling. The 100ml size of all tubes and the deodorant’s bottle make them aviation carry-on compatible and therefore ideal travel companions.
The design of the labels enhance the aesthetic sensation. Inspired by old pharmaceutical labels, small batch gin and premium whiskey labels, they include the batch as well as bottle number, to emphasize our small batch production process.

Our act of individualizing and personalizing each product’s packaging is a commitment to giving them a personal note. As they are the basis for a daily routine, we believe there is merit in lifting them from the status of general commodities.
In individualizing, we thus prominently feature the product’s small batch production process and track each batch and bottle within their category. It highlights each product’s uniqueness, as there is only one 525 / 1000 in batch number 1 of the 051 – Deodorant – and that one is yours. It is an honor only befalling small batch gins and premium whiskeys aging in a decade long process.

THE NAME SA.AL&CO IS A COMBINATION OF THREE ELEMENTS. WHEN CONTEMPLATING OVER A NAME FOR A BRAND ONE CONSIDERS EVERYTHING THROUGH AND THROUGH. A MILLION TIMES. SA.AL&CO WAS CHOSEN OUT OF A KALEIDOSCOPE OF IDEAS TO CONVEY A PROFOUND MESSAGE. SO WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
SA.AL is the combination of the first two letters of each of the founders’ surnames, separated and at once mirrored by the dot in the middle. It symbolizes our commitment to the brand and the responsibility of acting with integrity by putting our own names on it.
&CO is an important addition that reflects the generally oftentimes-underappreciated circumstance that this brand reflects the work of not only its founders, but also those involved through thoughts, advice, and hard work, by employees, advisors, friends and family. It emphasizes that SA.AL&CO is both born and alive in its intended form thanks to the devoted involvement of so many, truly great personalities in a unique, true collaboration of peers. We also understand the addendum to include our community of loyal friends and followers as we intend to blur the traditional line of customers and company. More on this to follow.
